History is full of colorful characters. Many of these appear in Civilization 6, and they all have things like unique units, structures, or other abilities.


Lady Six Sky of the Mayans is great for agrarian building and clustering cities close to your capital. The Mayans can also build observatories, which are cheaper to build than campuses and can fuel your scientific endeavors.


Frederick Barbossa gives Germany an edge by allowing you to build one more district than usual. They also have access to the Hansa, which is a cheaper industrial zone.


Leaders

The basic mode sees you pursue victory conditions across a number of different maps. You can choose map size, which determines the number of players, as well as the layout and game speed.


There is also a number of other modes including a zombie defense mode. It’s a challenging experience as you try to win against other countries, while fighting a tireless undead horde.


There are also a host of unique playable scenarios and many of these have roots in history such as playing as a viking raider, or trying to maintain control of your civilization during the scourge of the Black Death.


Modes

Some units are more useful that others. One of the most impactful is the trader. Setting up trade routes nets your civilization income every turn, plus other benefits.


Another unit you’ll need to succeed is the builder. This unit allows you to make improvements to many tiles, including farms, mines, camps, and plantations.


Early in the game, you can’t go wrong with the archer. This ranged unit can attack across two tiles and can be upgraded throughout the game.

Civilization VI

Civilization VI, the newest entry in the series that basically spawned the entire 4-X genre revives the turn-based strategy series with new challenges and game modes. While Civilization VI delivers on the classic experience, it trades some of the finer points of micromanagement for ease of access. Overall, if you enjoy these sorts of strategy games, this will certainly have you saying “just one more turn…”
