The ultimate game protagonist, Master Chief is your vehicle into the world of the game. One of the last of a generation of super soldiers, he's very adaptable to almost all battlefield scenarios.


One of many AI systems developed during humanities war with the Covenant Empire, Cortana is extremely loyal both to Master Chief as well as the entire UNSC.


Captain Jacob Keyes is the commander of the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. His goal is to keep his men alive, prevent the Covenant from capturing Cortana and find the location of Earth.


Characters

Comprised of both human and alien weaponry, the human weapons tend to be more familiar in terms of their form and archetype while alien weaponry tends to be more exotic in nature.


Halo is not just an on-foot shooter. Vehicles play a large part in the combat loop and like the guns, players can make use of both human and alien made vehicles.


The game has two types of grenades. Alien grenades are made of plasma and can stick to subjects once thrown. Human made frag grenades detonate shortly after impacting the ground.


Sandbox

Humanities best soldiers are scattered throughout the ring. The Marines of the UNSC are your best allies assisting you on the ground and can make use of vehicles to aid the player.


The Covenant are a religious conglomerate of alien species. They seek the destruction of the human race and want complete control of the mysterious ring world they believe was created by their gods.


The ring itself may be beautiful but not without dangers of it own. The world is an artificial construct created by a long extinct alien race and the beings that made it left behind numerous hazards.

Halo: Combat Evolved

Much like GoldenEye 007 for the N64, Halo was an important early game for first person shooters. More or less writing the rule book on how FPS shooters can work, the lessons it taught are still being used to this day. The game may be from the early 2000s but the level of sound design, the character personalities and the charisma in its development can still be felt and is worth visiting and experiencing.
