Archangel, which you may recall from Mass Effect 1 as Garrus Vakarian. In Mass Effect 2, Garrus has learned from his time with Shepard and taken this knowledge to become a hero battling the underworld crime syndicates of Omega.


Thane is unique as a spiritual assassin. He comes from a species that can remember memories perfectly which can blur the line between past and present. Even though an assassin, he has a much more softer spiritual side to him.


Legion sees himself as both an individual and part of the Geth Collective. He represents the Geth as an entire species but is no longer part of the Geth that serves Sovereign from Mass Effect 1.


Characters

Illium is a very unique world functioning as sort of an off-the-grid business hub. Although ruled by an actual government - slavery, narcotic sales and all types of debauchery are actually legal but highly regulated.


Omega is the underworld of Mass Effect 2. It has no government nor laws but is ran by gangs who keep the peace by a dominate hierarchy under an unofficial ruler, Aria T'Loak


The Citadel returns in Mass Effect 2 however unlike Mass Effect 1, you’re only allowed to visit the Wards and not the Presidium. Although disappointing that the Presidium is not available, Mass Effect 2 does double down on the depths of the Wards.


Maps

The Weapons Class returns albeit slightly less interesting since certain weapons are not locked by class. Even though you can utilize any weapons you want by any class, you’ll be better off going with the more powerful classes.


The Tech Class has a lot of new abilities, including a tech drone and tech armor that make the class a lot more fun and interesting. It’s no longer just about sabotage and sniping providing a lot more combat that centers around these abilities.


The Bionics Class hits it stride in Mass Effect 2. With the addition of a new combo system, faster cool-downs and improved targeting capabilities, you can play through the entire game without using a single weapon if you master this class.


Classes

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 is considered by many to be the best game in the entire Mass Effect franchise. Having more of an episodic TV feel rather than the more cinematic story telling experiences of Mass Effect 1 and 3, Mass Effect 2 is an excellent game and is available as part of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition which gives it updated graphics and better controls.
