Unholy Runes are the most board focused and allow you to have something to consistently contest your opponent's board. Topping it off with a card such as Lord Marrowgar will always give you a board presence.

The Blood Rune is primarily focused on control where gaining life, destroying minions and eventually presenting large minions yourself is a typical strategy to prevent your opponent from taking over the game.

Being Spell-based, the Frost Runes are focused on drawing cards, discounting and using them against your opponent where you can freeze individual minions are the entire board.

Death Knight

Being the main format for traditional Hearthstone, In Standard you’ll choose 30 cards from the last two years of sets. The mode is best for new players starting out.

The Battlegrounds mode has you and seven other players competing to recruit from a set of community cards until there’s only one left standing.

Arena is a good combination of Standard and Battlegrounds. You’ll select 30 cards from a randomly generated pool and play against other players who will have also drafted 30 cards. The game runs until you get 12 wins or 3 losses.

Modes

With rewards, players can earn various bonuses like packs or free entry into certain game modes. Each set release will include a brand new reward so be sure to check back periodically.

Card packs are sets of playable cards players can add to their collection. Each pack will have a set of randomly generated cards that range from common to legendary.

Crafting allows players to make a card of their choosing by eliminating cards they don’t want. The amount of “dust” created by eliminating a card is determined by its rarity.

Hearthstone is Blizzard Entertainment’s free-to-play collectable card card. Released in March of 2014, Hearthstone quickly gained popularity by setting the pace of what digital card games should be. In utilizing a system that eliminates issues physical card games have suffered from, provides ease of use for new players, and sports a very polished look it’s no surprise that Hearthstone became as big as it is.
